What sets a Red Rock Drilling Rig apart from the pack?

Red Rock’s drilling structures are of proven conventional design utilizing high strength steel fabricated by experienced craftsmen. The mud pumps on Rig 101 are rated at 1000 horse power; however, the engines powering the draw works compound have a cumulative rating of 1200 horse power. Each structure has a maximum capacity in excess of existing requirements, which will facilitate future power upgrades.

At Red Rock worker safety is priority number one. Rig 101 has the best “state of the art” fire and safety equipment available today. The rig also has fabricated wind-walls to protect rig hands from inclement weather and a stairwell built into the substructure to safely access the rig floor. Unused space inside the substructures is utilized for storage of tools and equipment.

The rig is built to exacting specifications. During construction, each weld is inspected for quality control from start to finish. This results in very close tolerances when the rig is put up and a very sturdy platform from which to drill. In some places, the substructure fits so closely that you cannot slide a piece of paper between them.

The entire rig is built for long term performance with side rollers on the mast and 1/2” pipe welded along the edges where the tow cables connect to the load skid hitches. The catwalks have thicker steel plating and standard spaced support structure which provides solid footing and resists wear and tear during rig moves.

The rig comes equipped with EMSCO style mud pumps. The mud pumps are actually built by a Chinese company who bought the Continental EMSCO drawings. So our mud pumps are an American mud pump built by a Chinese company. To ensure these mud pumps meet the highest standards, Red Rock actually replaces the original bearings with much higher quality American made bearings!

Equal care is taken in the housing and staircases. The houses, mud reservoir, and water tanks are made of crimped steel which reduces welding while providing great strength. The rails on the staircases are hinged to be removed during transit.
